High Security Classroom

At the end of February the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat of the Society of Jesus communication, “Headlines,” included the story from Missouri about St. Louis University and its education effort in the largest prison of the state.
Educating prisoners does not comfort many people, yet
studies...show education reduces recidivism—the more educated inmates are, the less likely they are to return to prison. And that can also help with the tax bill. It costs $20,863 a year to house one inmate in a Missouri prison.
