Before the Interruption

"Nine individuals told All Things Considered where they were on Sept. 10. They talked about some of their serendipitous experiences, near misses or devastating turn of events of that day — the day before America was interrupted."

The nine include former First Lady Laura Bush as well as citizens going to or already in the cities, whose names together form a memorial etched in the consciousness of citizens of the United States and throughout the world.

In addition to the printed version of memories that were broadcast, the extended audio of each person's recollection is available at the link to the program.
