Bee For Benedict

The Catholic Church in Italy, each 01 September, celebrates that "day for the safeguarding of Creation." Worldwide Watch continued: Italian "Catholic congregations share the celebration with the Greek Orthodox Church, which in 1990 declared its Ecclesiastical New Year, September 1, a day dedicated to celebration and protection of the environment."

On the occasion this year, Zenit.com reported that "Italy's largest farming association gave Benedict XVI eight beehives containing more than 500,000 bees last Sunday."

Read the entire Zenit post to learn how many hives the bees will occupy and how much honey they will produce on the Castel Gandolfo farm.
